From Bookworm to Maid-of-Honor-Zilla

13 Sep

It’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s a flower arrangement being tossed at 40 mph hour at the florist.  That Maid-of-Honor-Zilla used to play softball, right?

Ok, ok I’m not that bad. But you should have seen what happened when my sister, the bride-to-be, wasn’t able to book the church of choice for her big day.  She took it with grace, while I cursed up a storm…and said a few other unholy things.

So I’ve been a Maid of Honor for a whole week now.  I’ve always known this day would come. Other than 23 years of being an abnormally organized individual, I have no training on being a Maid of Honor.  I’ve never been in a wedding, and none of my friends are married nor are they engaged.  So my sister, who knows me better than anyone bought me this:

The Bridesmaid's Guerrilla Handbook by Sarah Stein and Lucy TalbotThe Bridesmaid’s Guerrilla Handbook by Sarah Stein and Lucy Talbot is excellent for those who are in a bridal party and have NO CLUE what they are doing.  Besides informing the reader about modern wedding traditions, this book includes little tidbits of wedding superstitions and trivia for the reader. At least it makes the reading a little more flavorful.

For now, thanks to Sarah and Lucy, I feel as though I have a grip. Just do me a favor? Say a little prayer for the future vendors and catering hall. You never know when Maid-of-Honor-Zilla will strike.
