The day a piece of me died

10 Aug

Can you honestly look at this and not tear up?

I know it has been several weeks since Borders announced that it will be closing all of its stores, but it really hasn’t set in until recent visits to various Borders locations.  I, most unreasonably, blame the e-reading population. Sure CNN is saying that the entire Borders business structure was terrible, but all I hear is BUY A BOOK AMERICA…TRY BEING LITERATE SOMETIME..AND NOT ON A KINDLE FOR PETE’S SAKE.

Any harshness in this post can be directly related to the feeling that a piece of my soul has been incinerated.  I know, melodramatic, but Borders was always my getaway.  It was a place where you could grab a latte, read ANYTHING and be social with antagonists, protagonists and settings from all over the world and throughout the centuries.

To end my rant, I would like to say that, although I do not like Barnes and Noble, I will now have to align my loyalty with them.  I feel like a conquered nation…
