Youtube for Poetry

15 Apr

Nothing compares to hearing a poet read his own poetry. Dylan Thomas has a very distinct voice, which I never realized until a fellow literary friend advised me to find audio files of Thomas reading his poems. Since then, I have been able to really listen to the “listening” nature of his poems.

The above video, however, holds a special place among my favorites. Plath is one of my favorite poets for her blunt honesty packaged in the beautiful imagery of her poems. In my opinion, “Daddy” is one of her best poems. I honestly think my heart stopped out of excitement when I first discovered this video. I truly am a Lit Geek after all.
